Urban Walks

The Urban Walks project took place in New York, Rome, Paris, Zurich, Sofia and Plovdiv. Photographing often at close range along the streets, in front of buildings, storefronts, walls, parks, or squares, I was interested in understanding
cities through a personal archive of signs and surfaces from the edges and corners of the cities that I walked
through. I found the details revealed a multitude of stories, historical traces, and spacial complexities. But
these images also reside on a poetic and lyrical level. In the context of the exhibition, these heterogeneous
images—randomly come upon, from diverse locations—can stand equally next to one another as each image
reveals its own specific contradictions and tensions.
