SET pieces

Set Pieces, 2011
Series of 15 photographs, inkjet-prints, 60cm x 45cm

Set Pieces is a series of images that sample fragmented views of interiors. As a strategy these views deny normal habits of looking, causing spacial estrangement and ambiguity through shifts in viewpoint. In these photographs, an investigation takes place on how shapes, colors, and atmosphere can bring about an uncanny sense arising from the blurring of lines of reality and context. In these quiescent and empty spaces, where memories could be triggered and stories suggested, narrative traces, history and future stories begin to unfold. A play of the theatrical and the ordinary, the constructed and the real, explores the qualities of photographic and physical space and their narrative potential.
